LIBERTY, Mo. – The William Jewell women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Northwestern Oklahoma on Tuesday afternoon in their home opener. The Cardinals are now 0-3-0 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Both sides were scoreless through the opening 45 minutes. Bella Hileman had an early look saved in the first minute, and Dilyn Davies sent a shot over the crossbar in the 30' for Jewell's best first-half chances.
• Northwestern Oklahoma broke through in the 62nd minute, converting off a goalkeeper deflection to take a 1-0 lead on the putback.
• Jewell pushed for an equalizer down the stretch. Taylin Lewis and Maddy Follmer both had shots saved in the final half hour, while Jessica Peterson also tested the Northwestern Oklahoma goalkeeper from the top of the box. Zoe Ralston and Brylee Rivera had late attempts that sailed just wide to result in the 1-0 loss.

KEY STATS

• Jenna Skeeters made seven saves in net for the Cardinals, allowing just the one goal.
• Hileman paced Jewell with two shot attempts; Follmer, Rivera, Davies, Lewis, Peterson and Ralston each had one.
• Jewell won the corner-kick battle 2-1 despite being outshot 10-8 (8-4 in shots on goal).
