Byron VonLeggett is in his first season as an assistant coach specializing in Sprints, Jumps, & Hurdles.

• Ran at Park College where he earned All-America honors in the 55 meter
• 200 meter record holder in both indoor and outdoor

• Came from nearby Park University where he mentored the all-time record holders in the long & triple jump and the 200 meter
• Coached the 2019 Women's Outdoor conference champions and the 2020 Women's Indoor conference champions
• Was named the 2019 and 2020 AMC Co-Coach of the Year
• Previously was the Assistant Sprints Coach at Raytown South High School where he coached state champions in the girls 4x100 relay (2015 & 2016), girls 4x200 relay (2016 & 2017) and an individual state champ in the 100 meter dash.
• Also saw state champions in the boys 2016 4x200 and 4x400 relay, three-time individual champion in the 400 meter (2015-17), and saw three victories in the 400 meter at the KU relays (2015-17).
• Coached 2016 state champion Quincy Hall, who later won the Olympic Gold Medal in the 400 meter dash in the 2024 Paris Olympics

• Earned degree in Communication Arts Radio and TV/Crimal Justice
