The William Jewell College women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Lewis University today in Great Lakes Valley Conference action in Romeoville, Ill. 

Both teams played well defensively but thanks to some bad luck the Cardinals came up on the short end of the score. 

Flyer Ariel Miller sent a cross from the left side intended for teammate Hillary Cooper about seven yards in front of the goal. A Cardinal defender tried to deflect the pass but instead chipped it over Jewell goalie Kelli Sontag's head into the net.

Lewis finished with a 10-8 advantage in shots. The Flyers had nine corner kicks while the Cards failed to earn a corner kick.

The Cardinals, 6-8 (4-8 GLVC) on the season will take on St. Joseph's College on Friday, October 21 at 5:00 p.m. at Greene Stadium on the Jewell campus in Liberty, Mo.
