Cardinal football won their second game of the year Saturday in Rensselear, Indiana, defeating St. Joseph College 19-8 in front of a Senior Day crowd.

After a scoreless first half, the Pumas led 2-0 after a bad snap on a punt sailed out of the endzone.  The Cardinals, though, scored on their next possession when Sean Shelton hit  Harrison Blue for a 27 yard touchdown pass, leading 7-2 at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter started with a 35 yard touchdown pass by St. Joseph to reclaim the lead at 8-7 after an unsuccessful two-point conversion.  The Cardinals took the lead for good when Warren Frevert hit a 27 yard field goal,Tyler Bullis sacked the quarterback in the endzone for a safety, and Shelton ran the ball in from 13 yards out.

The game concluded with an Owen Hodges interception with under two minutes left.

The Cardinals (2-6) return to Greene Stadium to take on Culver-Stockton College next weekend.
