Cards Get Back on Winning Track

The William Jewell College women's basketball team got back to their winning ways defeating University of Illinois-Springfield 63-48 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action this afternoon in Liberty, Mo.  

The Cardinals started the game on a 9-0 run and never looked back.  Jewell dominated the first half of action and led 36-19 at halftime. 

The second half saw more of the same.  The closest the Prairie Stars got to the Cardinals was 13 points.  Jewell shot 47% from the field in the game and hit 7-18 three pointers. 

Junior Holly Switzer led all scores with 16 points and a game high 5 steals.  Sophomore Cassy Nicolay added 14 points and a game high 9 rebounds while sophomore Chelsea Meeks contributed 9 points, four assists and three steals. 

The Cardinals, 5-1 on the year, will travel to Wichita, Kan., on Saturday December 10 to take on NCAA Division II opponent Newman University in a non-conference tilt at 2:00 p.m.
