William Jewell men's soccer players participate in Sporting Kansas City Reserve Game

Three William Jewell College Senior Men's Soccer players (Justin Beck, Micah Holdaway and Brett Lewis) played for the KC Brass (PDL) versus the Sporting Kansas City (MLS) reserves on Monday, March 28 at Swope Park Sporting Training Center. KC Brass won 3-2 over Sporting KC reserves in the exhibition game. Jewell senior All-American Justin Beck scored the game winning goal for the Brass. The game marked the awaited debut of Chad Ochocinco who was in the fifth day of his tryout with Sporting Kansas City. The six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals was participating in his first organized soccer outing since the 10th grade. Beck had the chance to go against Ochocinco for most of the game. “I was pretty excited going in,” said Beck. “I knew he played the right side and Coach usually puts me on the left so I knew we would be matched up with each other. He is a great guy and I had fun talking to him. I kind of froze after scoring the winning shot and was not sure how to celebrate so he gave me some celebration advice. Overall, it was a fun day.”
