The William Jewell College volleyball team went 1-1 during day one of the 2012 Mizuno GLIAC/GLVC Crossover.
The event, which is the biggest volleyball tournament in the country, features in-region matches between the two main conferences in the region.
Jewell opened the day by dropping a three-set match to Hillsdale (25-14,25-20,25-23) before earning a 3-1 win over University of Findlay (21-25,25-22,25-22,25-17).
Three Timberwolves finished with at least 6 kills against Hillsdale.
Christina Pratt and
Kaylee Marquardt
led the Cards with 7 kills each. She also added 14 digs. Libero
Katie Damgar added a match-high 17 digs.
Against Findlay, the Cardinals hit .223 as a team, finishing with 56 kills and 23 errors on 148 attempts. Senior
Hannah Herndon led the way with a game high 18 kills in the match and also contributed 14 digs.
Jordan Jackson had 12 kills and
Christina Pratt added 11. Damgar again tallied a match-high 17 digs and
Cailynn Hayter finished with 46 assists.
William Jewell, 10-10 on the year, will finish the event tomorrow with a match against Grand Valley State University. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
