The William Jewell College volleyball team lost 3-1 to Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Rockhurst University on Tuesday night in the Mabee Center.  The Cardinals fall to 11-15 overall and 5-9 in GLVC play.  Rockhurst improves to 21-6 overall and 10-4 in the GLVC. 

The Cardinals came out confident and won the first set of the night 25-20. 

Jewell was unable to capitalize on the momentum as the Hawks took control of the second set from the start and won 25-15. 

The third set saw the Cardinals close to 13-11 before Rockhurst went on a 7-1 run and then closed out the set 25-14.

Jewell again battled back and forth to start the fourth set before Rockhurst went on a 10-0 run after leading 12-11.  Jewell forged a mini-comeback winning three straight points but Rockhurst was able to close out the set 25-16 giving them the 3-1 match win. 

Senior Hannah Herndon had 15 kills and 21 digs to lead the Cardinals.  Christina Pratt knocked home 11 kills, Katie Damgar delivered 21 digs and Cailynn Hayter chipped in 38 assists in the loss.

The Cardinals will play host to Drury University on Friday with first serve set for 7:00 p.m.
