The William Jewell College women's soccer team has enjoyed a successful second season in the NCAA and Great Lakes Valley Conference, but it came to an end Friday as the third-seeded Cardinals were upset 2-0 by sixth-seeded University of Wisconsin-Parkside in the NCAA Midwest Regional opening round at Quincy University. Jewell, which finished the season 15-3-3, allowed two goals over the final 35 minutes in the loss. Parkside, now 13-4-1, will face top-seeded Quincy on Sunday, November 11 in the second round. This was the second meeting between the two teams. Jewell defeated Parkside 2-0 on Sept. 16.
Following a scoreless first half The Rangers broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when Kaela Hoecherl scored from 10 yards out on a goal that assisted by Megan Owens. Jasmine Espino scored at the 73:08 mark on an assist from Ashley Meyer to pad Parkside's lead.
