Jewell Men Lose Close Affair to USF

Box Score The Jewell men finished their year with a 74-69 loss in Las Vegas to the University of Sioux Falls Sunday in the D2 Vegas Showdown.  The loss to USF, coupled with the win against Minot State on Saturday, ends the Cardinal season at 9-17.

The Cardinals, as transitional members of the NCAA, were not allowed to participate in conference or national competition this season.

 Senior Nick Larson finished his collegiate career with 36 points against the Cougars (18-8), hitting 6-19 shots from the floor against double and triple teams.    The Cardinals as a whole shot 49% while USF shot 52%, but Jewell only hit 5 of 20 three-pointers.

Chris Uz finished his career with nine points, senior Mark Mason had six points, and Craig Mattson had five points.  Nate Kroeker had five assissts.

For his efforts, Larson was named the Outstanding Player in the tournament, as well as a member of the All-Tournament team.
