Box Score 2 The William Jewell women's tennis team split a pair of matches in the St. Joseph's College Invitational in Michigan City, Ind., on Saturday. The Cards fell 6-3 to fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Lewis University before rebounding for a 9-0 win over GLVC opponent Kentucky Wesleyan.
In the first match of the day the Lady Flyers went up on the Cards in doubles play 2-1 with wins a No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by scores of 8-1 and 8-0. The Cards were able to get an 8-1 win at number three doubles from
Carli Bisesi and
Chelsea Dinkel .
In singles play
Paula Peters lost a hard fought battle 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. First-year
Katy Lehenbauer and Junior
Jaimie Baker picked up wins for Jewell at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively.
The Jewell women then defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 9-0. The Cards came out of doubles up 3-0 by scores of 9-7, 8-4 and 9-7. In singles play junior
Carli Bisesi won a close three set match at No. 2 singles and first-year player
Kristen Stivers dominated her opponent at No. 3 singles for the match clinching win. Jewell also received wins from
Paula Peters,
Hana Lindbloom,
Katy Lehenbauer and
Chelsea Dinkel.
The Cardinals improved to 3-1 on the year and will take on St. Joseph's College Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
