The William Jewell College women's tennis team welcomed Northwest Missouri State University to Clayview Country Club in the Cardinals' home opener of 2012 and fell to the Lady Bearcats 7-2.

The Cardinals came out of doubles play down 2-1 with the only win coming at number two doubles with an 8-6 win by Loree and Conner Hazelrigg.  The Lady Bearcats were able to claim wins at No. 1 and No. 3 by scores of 8-2 and 8-4 respectively. 

The Cardinals were able to tie the score at two matches a piece as junior Hana Lindbloom won a three set thriller 7-5, 1-6 and 11-9.   

The Bearcats won at the top two singles to regain the lead as Jewell's Paula Peters lost a 6-4, 6-4 match at No. 1 singles and Carli Bisesi lost a tough 6-1, 6-4 battle at No. 2.  The Bearcats then clinched the match with a win at No. 3 singles over Jewell's Kristen Stivers 6-1, 6-3.  Katy Lehenbauer lost a tough 6-4, 6-1 contest at No. 5 singles and Jaimie Baker lost a three set match at No. 6 singles 6-3, 3-6, and 10-4. 

The Cardinals, 4-2 on the season will return to action on Saturday, March 3 against University of Nebraska-Kearney at Clayview Country Club at 11:00 a.m.
