The William Jewell College women's tennis team traveled to Lawrence, Kan., on Tuesday and came away with a dominating 9-0 victory over their former Heart of America Athletic Conference rival, Baker University.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of
Paula Peters and
Katy Lehenbauer and No. 2 team of
Loree Hazelrigg and
Conner Hazelrigg won by scores of 8-4. The junior tandem of
Hana Lindbloom and
Jaimie Baker put the Cards up 3-0 with a win at No. 3 doubles 8-2.
In singles the Lady Cardinals never lost momentum. No. 1 player,
Paula Peters, had a solid win with scores of 6-1, 6-0.
Kristen Stivers had similar success at No. 2 where she prevailed over her opponent 6-1, 6-1 and thus clinched the team victory for the Cardinals. No. 3 player,
Hana Lindbloom, defeated her Baker match up without dropping a single game, and
Katy Lehenbauer produced an 8-1 victory at No. 4.
Loree Hazelrigg returned to the singles lineup after battling a foot injury and prevailed 8-2 at No. 5. Last player on the court,
Chelsea Dinkel, had an impressive performance at No. 6 with a score of 8-3.
The Cardinals, 6-2 on the season, will take on Missouri Valley College at Clayview Country Club in Kansas City, Mo., on Friday March 23 at 4:00 p.m.
