The William Jewell College women's tennis team won their second straight Great Lakes Valley Conference match, beating Maryville University 9-0, Saturday afternoon.
Jewell swept through the doubles with three straight wins heading into singles action.
Paula Peters and
Katy Lehenbauer defeated Chelsea Travis and Valerie Saxton 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles spot. Conner and
Loree Hazelrigg pitched a shutout, holding Natalie Pfremmer and Lauren Land scoreless in their 8-0 victory.
Kristen Stivers and
Hana Lindbloom also scored a doubles shutout win with an 8-0 victory in the No. 3 doubles spot to complete the sweep of the doubles matches.
The Cardinals headed into singles play with a commanding 3-0 lead and ended singles play, winning all six singles matches.
At No. 1, Peters won 6-3, 6-2 over Travis, while
Carli Bisesi defeated Land 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2.
At No.3 singles
Hana Lindbloom scored another victory for Jewell handing Pfremmer a 6-0, 6-1 loss. At No.4 singles
Jaimie Baker won a tight 7-6, 6-4 contest while
Chelsea Dinkel and
Conner Hazelrigg both won 8-2 at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively.
The Cardinals, 9-5 on the spring, will host their last home match of the 2012 spring season against Missouri Western State University on Tuesday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m. at Clayview Country Club.
