Box Score The William Jewell College women's soccer team took down Southwest Baptist University Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 2-0 in non-conference action in Bolivar, Mo.
The Cardinals started the scoring in the twenty seventh minute of the game, when
Jade Gifford passed the ball ahead to
Ashley Licata and slotted the ball into the lower left corner just outside the reach of the goalie. That would end up being the only score of the first half as Jewell took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The second half would be more of the same for the Cardinals as they continued to dominate the match. Licata put away the final goal in the 64th minute off a pass from
Kate Beaver. The Cardinal defense and goalkeeper
Kelli Sontag went on to keep the shutout intact and win the game 2-0.
Jewell outshot Southwest Baptist 28-11 including a 15-4 advantage in shots on goal.
The Cardinals 7-1 (5-1 GLVC) are back in action on Friday with a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup with University of Illinois-Springfield at 5:00 p.m. at Greene Stadium on the Jewell campus in Liberty, Mo.
