Jewell volleyball took on Great Lakes Valley College power Missouri Science & Technology Friday night at the Mabee Center in Liberty, Missouri, and came away empty-handed as the Miners (7-7, 3-2 GLVC) took a 25-17, 25-18, 27-25 win from the Cardinals.
The match was not without some drama, however, as Jewell (1-13, 0-5) rallied late in the third game to take a 25-24 lead and have S&T at game point before the Miners rallied to take the sweep.
S&T outhit the Cardinals .320 to .087 on the match and had a 13-5 edge in blocks. Â Jewell and S&T each had four serve receive errors and four service aces, and the Cardinals served 94% on the night to S&T's 93%.
Kaylee Marquardt had nine kills and
Libby Ording had eight. Â Kailynn Hayer had 23 set assists while
Leslie Iron had three ace serves and Kelsey Moffit had two.
The Cardinals play Drury at home on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
