Despite 31 points from Jordan Lewis and 15 rebounds from D'Vante Mosby the William Jewell Cardinals could not hold off Upper Iowa University Saturday in non-conference basketball action in Jewell's Mabee Center.

The 101-88 defeat by UIU (2-3) came after Jewell (1-3) fell behind early in the game, rallied in the second half to lead on several occaisions, but then faded down the stretch as Upper Iowa's offense took control of the game behind 51% shooting on the night, including shooting at a 62% rate in the second half.

The Cardinals, who shot 41%, matched Upper Iowa's 10-24 three-point shooting helped mostly by Lewis who was 6-11 from beyond the arc and 10-17 overall.

DeVonte Bell had 19 points, Dwight Sistrunk, Jr. had 15 points and six assists, and Mosby added another 11 points.  Jewell had only six turnovers in the game, and UIU had three.

Jewell returns to the Mabee Center on Tuesday night for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with Graceland University.
