Southwest Baptist University took a 90-86 win over William Jewell College in non-conference men's basketball Saturday in Bolivar, Missouri.
The loss dropped the Cardinals to 4-4 on the year.
In a game that featured six ties and eight lead changes, Jewell had a 48-47 lead at the half and led through large parts of the second half, but a 9-0 run by the Bearcats (8-3) put them in control late in the game. Â Down nine, the Cardinals battled back and actually had a chance to tie with ten seconds left, but a Dwight Sistrunk's15 foot shot missed off the front of the rim.
Sistrunk led five double-digit Jewell scorers with 19 points, followed by 12 points from both DeVonte Bell and
Jordan Lewis, and 11 more each for D'Vante Mosby and
Clint McCullough. Â Mosby also had 13 rebounds, as Jewell outrebounded SBU 42-39 in the game.
On the night, the Cardinals shot 43% to the Bearcats 49%, and had 15 turnovers to SBU's 14.
William Jewell hosts Ottawa University Tuesday night in the final non-conference game of the year starting at 7:00 at the Mabee Center.
