The William Jewell women's basketball team defeated Illinois-Springfield Saturday afternoon 76-60 at the Mabee Center in Liberty, Missouri.

Chelsea Meeks had 11 points and 11 assists in the game.  Katlyn Wood led all scorers with 21 points on 5-8 three point shooting, while Cassy Nicolay had 12 points and Jessie Wheeler had 11.  Wood, who leads the GLVC in blocked shots, had three in the game.

The Cardinals (13-8, 7-6 in the GLVC) shot 50% on the game, but were out rebounded by UIS (5-16, 2-11) 41-25.  Jewell hit 11-21 three-point attempts, and 11-12 free throws.

The Cardinals will be on the road next week with games at UMSL Thursday night and Maryville on Saturday afternoon.
