The William Jewell College women's tennis team (4-1) nearly erased a 2-1 deficit heading into singles play, but was unable to complete the comeback in a 5-4 loss to University of Nebraska-Kearney on Friday afternoon.
Loree and
Conner Hazelrigg fought for a 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles to give the Cardinals their lone doubles point.
Hana Lindbloom and
Jaimie Baker fell 9-8 (7-5) at No. 3 doubles.
The bottom half of the Jewell lineup came through in singles play, as the Cardinals picked up wins at the fourth, fifth, and sixth spots.
Savannah Drew posted her fifth straight spring season win at No. 4 singles by the score of 6-1, 6-4. Loree
Hazelrigg added another victory at the fifth spot with her 6-3, 6-4 victory. At No. 6 singles,
Carli Bisesi knocked off her opponent 6-1, 7-6.
The Lopers put the match away with wins at No.1 , No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively.
The Cardinals will next take on Colorado Christian on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. in Grand Island, Neb.
