Jewell volleyball lost a three-game match to Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar Tuesday night 25-19, 26-24, 25-22 to wrap up a nine-match road schedule to begin the year.

Libby Ording led Jewell (1-8) with 12 kills, while Cailynn Hayter had 18 assists and Katie Damgar had 19 digs. Kaylee Marquardt had another 13 digs.

All three games were close, with neither team leading by more than five points in any game.  The Cardinals best chance to win a game came in game 2, when they had game point at 24-23 before dropping that game 26-24.

Lauren Holm came off the bench in the second game and hit .357 for the match with six kills.  Ording hit .269 on the match, and Marquardt had five kills.

SBU (7-2) had 19 blocks in the match, the Cardinals had six.  The Bearcats hit .231 to Jewell's .136.

Jewell's first home match will also open GLVC play when Bellarmine comes in to face the Cardinals Saturday at 1:00 p.m.  Jewell will also host Southern Indiana Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
