Jewell volleyball played perhaps their best volleyball of the season Sunday at home against Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent Southern Indiana, but came up short in five games at the Mabee Center in Liberty.

The Cardinals (1-10, 0-2 in the GLVC) and the Screaming Eagles (7-3, 1-1) fought to a fifth game after splitting the first four games. While the Cardinals led through most of the first three games, their momentum seemed to wane in games four and five, with USI jumping to early leads and hanging on to win.  The Cardinal serve receive, which had been solid early in the match, broke down late in the match and helped UIS build their leads.

Jewell continues GLVC play next Saturday and Sunday on the road at St. Joseph's College and the University of Indianapolis.
