Cardinal volleyball lost both of its road matches this week, but it wasn't without a fight: Jewell took #23 University of Indianapolis to the limit, dropping a five-game heartbreaker when the Greyhounds won a 15-11 in the final game to take the match on Sunday.
On Saturday, Jewell was swept by St. Joseph's College at Rensselaer, Indiana.
In the UIndy match, Jewell outhit the Greyhounds (7-5, 3-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference) .179 to .153 on the match, with
Kaylee Marquardt tallying 15 kills,
Kelsey Wagner putting up 12 kills and
Christina Pratt adding 10 more. Â
Cailynn Hayter had 43 set assists and three service aces for Jewell, and
Katie Damgar dug 28 balls on defense.
Against St. Joseph's College, the Cardinals hit only .021 at the net, with no attacker registering double-digit kills in the three-set match. Â Damgar had 10 digs for Jewell.
The Cardinals (1-12, 0-4) host GLVC rivals Missouri S&T on Friday night at 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday at 3:00 host Drury.
