Cards Can't Hold Late Lead, Fall to UMSL

Box Score
Jewell men's basketball led at the University of Missouri-St.Louis by 11 with 7:09 left in the game Thursday night, but couldn't hold on as the Tritons rallied to a 68-64 win.

Kyle Smith hit three three-pointers in a five minute span to help build the lead, but poor free throw shooting--including seven Jewell misses in a row at one point--was a factor in the loss.

The Cardinals (7-11, 3-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference) started hot, though, with a 10-0 lead to open the game, but trailed by a point at the half.

D'Vante Mosby had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.  Smith ended the game with 14 points, and Jordan Lewis had 10 points.

UMSL is 11-7 overall, 5-5 in the conference,

Jewell's road trip in St. Louis continues with a 3:30 p.m. game at Maryville University.
