Women Drop 78-63 Decision to UMSL

Box Score
Cardinal women's basketball played the University of Missouri-St. Louis close until the final nine minutes, but UMSL took control of the game at that point and went on to a 78-63 win in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

Chelsea Meeks had 17 points and Cassy Nicolay 15 for the Cardinals (8-10, 3-7 in the GLVC).

A combination of poor rebounding and poor shooting may have made the difference down the stretch, as UMSL (13-5, 6-4) dominated the rebounds (they held a 43-27 advantage for the game) and ended up shooting 49% to Jewell's 39% for the game.

Maddie Nelsonand Zinka Duric each had six points and six rebounds, while Jess Wheeler contributed another six points. Aerial Smith had five points, four assists and two steals.

The Cardinals play at Maryville University on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
