The William Jewell College men's soccer Team (3-7-3, 2-5-3 GLVC) used a strong second half to earn a 4-1 victory in a Great Lakes Valley Conference tilt with University of Illinois-Springfield (4-8, 2-8 GLVC) in Springfield, Ill.
The first half was evenly played and hard fought. Jewell led in shots 9-8 with one on goal, which was put in by first-year player
Tristan Morgan off an assist from
Jordan Lindsey. Jewell would lead 1-0 at halftime.
Lindsey found Morgan again 38 seconds into the second half to give Jewell a 2-0 lead. Over three minutes later Lindsey himself found the back of the net to give
Jewell a commanding 3-0 lead. UIS did manage a goal in the 66th minute before the game was put away when Jewell scored on an own goal to produce the 4-1 final.
Joe Keeven earned the win in goal for Jewell saving five shots on the afternoon.
The Cardinals will return home to host Bellarmine University on Friday, October 17 at Greene Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
