William Jewell College senior linebacker Eric Jackson, has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday. 

Jackson, a native of DeSoto, Texas, helped lead the defense with 11 tackles and two sacks in the Cardinals' 21-17 road win at Truman State on Saturday.  The defensive output tied teammate Jimmy DeStefano for the game-high, while his pair of sacks also was a team high.  Jackson had five solo hits and six assisted stops in the win.  This is the first weekly honor for Jackson and the first for a Jewell defender since DeStefano was honored on Sept. 16, 2013.  This is the second straight week a Cardinal has been recognized as Thomas Cook, Jr., earned GLVC Offensive Player of the Week accolades last week.
