In a battle of the third and sixth ranked teams respectively in the Great Lakes Valley Conference the William Jewell College women's soccer team fell 2-0 to the Bellarmine University Knights on Friday at Greene Stadium.
The Cards and Knights fought to a scoreless first half before Bellarmine found the back of the net at the 60:13 mark when Abby Janszen scored her fourth goal of the year to put the Knights up 1-0.
Mary Beth Gorham would put the game out of reach with her ninth goal of the season at the 87:06 mark.
Bellarmine improves to 10-2-2 overall and 8-1-2 in the GLVC. The loss sends Jewell to 6-4-3 overall and 5-4-2 in the GLVC.
The Knights outshot the Cards 11-5 including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.
The Cardinals will play host to McKendree University on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
