The William Jewell College men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Truman State University on Friday afternoon at Greene Stadium in Liberty, Mo.   The loss drops the Cards to 2-6-2 overall and 1-4-2 in GLVC play.  Truman improves to 4-4-1 and 3-3-1 in GLVC action.   

Derek Merry scored his first goal of season and the first and only goal of the game with 2:11 to play in the first half with the assist by Craig McLaurine off a corner kick.  Truman dominated play in the half as they outshot Jewell 8-2 including a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal in the first half. 

Missed opportunities doomed the Cards in the second half as Jewell narrowly missed three goal opportunities.   

For the game the Bulldogs outshot the Cardinals 12-6 and 6-2 in shots on goal.   The Cardinals had eight corner kicks to Truman's five. 

Shane Van Hooser had five saves in goal on the afternoon for the Cardinals. 

The Cardinals will conclude their three game home stand on Sunday, October 5 at 2:30 p.m. as they host Quincy University.
