On a cold and blustery day at Greene Stadium in Liberty, Mo., the William Jewell College women's soccer team returned to Great Lakes Valley Conference action hosting the Truman State University Bulldogs. The Bulldogs were able to edge out a 1-0 victory on Friday to move to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the GLVC. Jewell fell to 4-2-3 overall and 3-2-2 in GLVC action.
The Bulldogs jumped out in front as Kelsey Murphy scored her second goal of the season at the 18:42 mark which proved to be the only goal of the afternoon. Jewell was able to control play for most of the first half but would go into halftime down 1-0.
The Cards made a push in the last four minutes and came within inches of tying the game but
Jade Gifford's free kick was batted away at the last second. Jewell was only able to get off two shots in the second half.
Truman outshot the Cards 7-5 on the afternoon and led 5-3 in shots on goal. The Cardinals had a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Jordan Lewis made four saves while playing all 90 minutes for Jewell in goal.
The Cardinals will conclude their three game home stand on Sunday, October 5 at 12:00 p.m. as they host Quincy University.
