In their first matchup in the Great Lakes Valley Conference play, the Cardinals of William Jewell defeated the Bearcats of McKendree University Thursday night 71-64.  The Cardinals are now 10-12 overall and 5-9 in the GLVC.
 
Cardinals enter the locker room in the first half down one with a score of 35-34.  Cassy Nicolay scored 15 points and grabbed five boards in the first half.  The Cardinals out rebounded the Bearcats 21-15.
 
Final game statistics, Chelsea Meeks had 23 points; Nicolay registered adouble double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, and Aerial Smith assisted the Cardinals seven times in the game.
 
The Cardinals play again on Saturday February 16^th at 1:00pm against University of Illinois Springfield.
