Box Score The William Jewell Cardinals were defeated by the University of Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars in their Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup today 83-65.  The Cardinals are now 10-13 overall and 5-10 in the GLVC.
 
The Cardinals had a slow first half and entered the locker room down 44-34.  Hayli Jo Smith caught fire with nine points.  Chelsea Meeks also contributed nine points, and Jessie Wheeler scored eight and dished out four assists in the half.
 
Meeks ended the game with 20 points and four assists, followed by Hayli Jo Smith with 14 points; Wheeler scored 13 and had five assists. 
 
The Cardinals will play on Thursday February 20 against Drury University at the Mabee Center on Jewell campus in Liberty, Mo.  Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
