Cardinal Men Upset No. 2 Drury University 65-60

Box Score The William Jewell Cardinals stunned the No. 2 Drury Panthers Thursday night 65-60 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown in the Mabee Center. The Cards are now 11-13 overall and 7-9 in the GLVC Conference.

The loss broke an 11-game win streak for the defending national champion Panthers, whose only other loss this season came in early January at GLVC Eastern Conference member Bellarmine.
 
In a great defensive half,  the Cards entered the locker room down six at the with the score of 27-21.  The Cardinals forced the Panthers(22-2, 14-2 GLVC)  into 12 turnovers in the first half and only committed six of their own, while Drury outshot Jewell 47% to 30%, and hit three three-pointers to the Cardinals' one.

In the second half, the Cardinals turned the tables offensively and continued to play good defense.  From the floor, Jewell hit 41% of their field goal attempts to 39% for the Panthers, but held a decisive 16-4 edge in made free throws in the half. Jewell also hit four three-pointers in the second period, while Drury hit three, as the Cardinals outscored Drury 44-33 in the second half.
 
D'Vante Mosby had a double double with 14 points and 11 rebounds; Dwight Sistrunk contributed 12 points and five assists.  Cyril Bilong hit 7-10 free throws, many of them late in the game, and had a defensive rebound on Drury's last true possession to put the Cardinals on the brink of the upset.

The Panthers leading scorer and reigning GLVC Player of the Week, Kameron Bundy, did not play due to a concussion.
 
The Cardinals will play thier home finale on Saturday February 22 against the Miners of Missouri S&T with a 3:30 p.m. tip-off.
