Jewell men's basketball gave #20 Wisconsin-Parkside a run for their ranking on Thursday, but came up short in the Great Lakes Valley Conference tilt in Kenosha, Wisconsin 90-80.
The Cardinals fall to 8-12 overall and 4-8 in the GLVC; the Rangers move to 18-3, 11-1 in the conference.
Parkside jumped on Jewell for a 10-0 lead after the first two minutes, but the Cardinals roared back to take an 18-14 lead at one point midway through the first half. Â Later, with Parkside again threatening to stretch a lead, Kyle Smith and
Cyril Bilong led the Cardinals, with Smith hitting back-to-back three-pointers and a total of four treys in the half, and Bilong hitting for eight first half points.
It was D'Vante Mosby who may have had the biggest night for the Cardinals, recording a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, including nine rebounds off the offensive glass.
Six Cardinals scored in double figures in all, including 14 from
Dwight Sistrunk, Jr., 13 from Bilong, 12 from Smith and DeVonte Bell, and 11 from
Clint McCullough, who also had three steals.
The Cardinals take on Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois Saturday afternoon.
