The William Jewell College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to McKendree University on Friday afternoon at Kings Point Racquet Club in Belleville, Ill. The Cardinals drop to 3-3 on the season while McKendree improves to 12-0.Â
The host Bearcats claimed all three doubles victories to own a 3-0 lead.
Kristen Stivers and
Katy Lehenbauer absorbed an 8-2 loss at the top doubles slot.
Savannah Drew and
Lauren Huddlestun fell 8-6 at the No. 2 spot and
Jackie Parkhill and
Jessica Capps suffered an 8-3 setback at the third position.
McKendree swept the singles matches to earn the 9-0 victory.
Stivers fell 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles position to Adriana Gonzalez. Drew dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision at the No. 2 spot and Huddlestun was edged 6-4, 7-6 at the third slot.
At the fourth spot, Lehenbauer dropped a narrow 7-5, 6-3 decision to Kelcie Comley.Â
Parkhill was defeated 6-0, 6-2 at the fifth singles position and Capps fell 7-6, 6-1 at the sixth slot.
The Cardinals will open Great Lakes Valley Conference play tomorrow against Maryville University at Frontenac Racquet Club at 8:30 p.m
