Box Score Box ScoreThe William Jewell College women's tennis team came up with a 6-3 non-conference win at home today against Washburn University.
With the win, the Cardinals improved to 7-6 overall.
Jewell found itself behind early as the No. 1 doubles team of
Kristen Stivers and
Katy Lehenbauer fell 8-3. The Cards rebounded as Conner and
Loree Hazelrigg took the No. 2 doubles match 8-1 and
Savannah Drew and
Lauren Huddlestun gave Jewell a 2-1 lead with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, the Cardinals took four of the six matches. Stivers, and
Conner Hazelrigg won their matches in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 5 singles respectively. Huddlestun and
Loree Hazelrigg battled to win three-set matches at No. 3 and No. 6 singles. Lehenbauer lost a three set thriller at No. 4 singles while Drew fell in straight sets at No. 2.
The Cardinals will travel to Maryville, Mo., tomorrow for another non-conference match against Northwest Missouri State beginning at 3:00 p.m.
