The William Jewell College women's basketball team continued Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Thursday night hosting the Missouri S&T Miners. Jewell used an amazing second half performance to beat the Miners 77-58. Jewell improves to 9-5 overall and 4-2 in the GLVC. Missouri S&T falls to 4-10 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

The Cardinals led most of the first half, getting out to a great start, but the Miners ended the first half leading the game 34-30.
Hayli Jo Smith went into halftime with 11 points, including three 3-pointers in the first 5 minutes of play. The Miners then caught fire with an 18-11 run to end the half, with the help of forward Jamy Douvier who ended with 12 first half points. This run gained the Miners some momentum heading into the second half. The Cardinals shot 41% from the field, including 3-11 from 3-point range.

The second half momentum was immediately swung to the Cardinals side. They opened the half with a 17-5 run, which led to a 24-9 run halfway through the second half.
Katie Finn caught fire and hit three 3-pointers in the first ten minutes of the half. The rest of the half was the Cards, as they won the half 47-24.

Christian Benton-Keys led the Cardinals with 16 points.
Aerial Smith also dropped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. For the Miners, Jamy Douvier and Elsie Greenwood led the way with 13 points.

The Cards will host Drury University Saturday, January 17 with tip-off at 1:00 p.m.
