The William Jewell College women's basketball team saw their four game winning streak snapped on Thursday against Truman State in Kirksville, Mo., 61-58 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Senior guard Allie Norton sank a game-winning three pointer with .5 seconds left in regulation that helped end Truman's three game losing skid.
The Cardinals shot 41 percent from the field in the first half including 5-9 from three-point land and led 36-32 at the half.
Jewell went cold in the second half and only knocked home 25 percent of their shots which helped the Bulldogs come back.
Maddie Nelson sank two free throws to put the Cards up 55-54 with 2:56 to play in the contest. Truman then took a two point lead with 22 seconds left before
Aerial Smith tied the game with 9 seconds left.
Truman's next possesion saw Norton work her way open on the wing and was able to get off a three-point attempt that fell in leaving Jewell only .5 seconds to play. The Cards could not get a shot off and with the loss they fall to 10-6 overall and 5-3 in GLVC play. Truman improves to 10-6 overall and 4-4 in the GLVC.
Hayli Jo Smith led Jewell with 18 points all coming from three pointers.
Aerial Smith was the only other Cardinal to score in double figures with 13.
The Cards will look to start another winning streak on Saturday as they travel to Quincy, Ill., to take on Quincy University. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
