The William Jewell College women's basketball team dropped their second straight Great Lakes Valley Conference game losing 96-77 at Bellarmine University on Sunday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky. 

It was a tale of two halves for the Cardinals as Jewell shot 57 percent in the first half and led by seven midway through the first half.  The Cards also were 4-7 from beyond the arc in the first half. 

Bellarmine cut the lead to two at halftime trailing 41-39. 

With the Cards up by one at the 18:09 mark of the game The Knights went on a 16-0 run to put the game out of reach for the Cards.  Jewell was only able to hit 37 percent from the field in the second half while Bellarmine turned things around and shot 58 percent. 

Jewell (6-5, 1-2 GLVC) was lead by Maddie Nelson and Aerial Smith who were the only Cards in double figures with 14 a piece. 

Bellarmine (7-3, 2-0 GLVC) had seven players score in double figures led by Whitney Hartlage with 14. 

The Cardinals return home to host their first GLVC contest of the season as they welcome University of Indianapolis on Thursday, January 8.  Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
