The William Jewell men's soccer team fell to 2-7-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference after falling to Truman State 2-1 on Sunday.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a lead right out of the gate, as Joel Reft scored on a header off a corner kick just over one minute into the contest.
At the 37:43 mark
Kit Russell scored his first goal of the season off an assist from
Mitchell Heinzler to knot the score at one a piece. The tie stood until late in the second period when Truman got a shot from the center of the box to find the net and put the Bulldogs up by a final of 2-1.
Truman outshot the Cardinals 17-8 including 10-4 in shots on goal.
Russell, along with
Ethan Delaney each recorded two shots, with Delaney's both on-goal.
Quinton Conyers,
Jordan Lindsey,
Brodi Sabiston, and
Blake Lines also added one shot a piece.
Senior goalie
Joe Keeven upped his GLVC leading saves total to 72 by posting eight on Sunday.
The Cardinals are in action again next weekend as they began a four-game home stand by hosting Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, October 9 followed by Maryville on Sunday, the 11th.
