The William Jewell women's soccer team dropped a close contest to Truman State 1-0 on Sunday. The loss drops the Cardinals to 4-5-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Jewell was held without a shot throughout the first half as the Bulldogs grabbed five, including the lone goal of the game. Alexis Heffernan put in her fourth goal of the season just past the 31' mark.
After getting blanked in the first half Jewell was able to put together a solid second period, getting seven shots with two on goal but couldn't get the equalizer to find the net.
Senior
Jade Gifford led the Cardinals with three shots followed by
Sydney White with two.
Hayley White and
Aspen Hawkins each chipped in one shot.
In her first start since an early season injury, Jewell goalie
Alex Dressman allowed just one goal and recorded three saves.
The Cardinals return to campus this week for a four-game home stand beginning with Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, October 9 followed by Maryville on Sunday.
