SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The William Jewell College men's basketball team opened the 2015 season with an 88-62 loss in exhibition play at Missouri State University.
Jewell struggled to get the offense going, shooting 41 percent from the field for the game, 30 percent from three-point range. The Cardinals turned the ball over 27 times in the contest. Newcomer
Matt Lassen led Jewell with 18 points and Austin Reiger chipped in 12.
Javier De La Blanca scored seven in his first game as a Cardinal.
Darius Tomlin scored six points to go along with six assists and six rebounds.
On the other side, Missouri State shot 53 percent from the field and 61 percent in the second half. Camyn Boone scored 19 for Missouri State to lead all scorers. He was one of four Bears to score double-digits with Dequon Miller, Jordan Martin and Chris Kendrix all adding 10.
The regular season begins for Jewell on Friday, November 13 when they host Baker University at 7:00 p.m. at the Mabee Center.
