The William Jewell College women's basketball team cruised past the visiting Ottawa University Braves, winning by a score of 78-55 on Tuesday evening at the Mabee Center.

The Cardinals raced out to an early lead, outscoring the Braves 19-11 in the first quarter. After a back and forth second quarter, the Cardinals started the third quarter on an 8-2 run. They would never look back, holding a comfortable lead for the rest of the game.

William Jewell dominated on the boards, out-rebounding the Braves 45-30. The Cardinals were also aided by eleven three-pointers for the evening.

Maddie Nelson led the Cardinals offensively, achieving a triple-double with ten points, ten rebounds, and a career-high 11 assists.
Madison Campbell and
Meagan Paul each set career-highs in points scored, contributing 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Connor Strader and Ashley Romig led the Braves' offensive efforts, each scoring nine points. Madi Stewart chipped in eight points for the game.

The win moves the Cardinals to 5-8 on the year.

The Cardinals now embark on an extended holiday break. They return to action on January 7 as they take on conference foe Bellarmine University at 5:30 P.M. in the Mabee Center.
