Jewell men's basketball got their biggest road win of the year Thursday night in Springfield, Mo., upsetting the Great Lakes Valley Conference Western Division leader Drury Panthers 73-59.
The Cardinals led by eight at halftime despite losing starting shooting guard
Jordan Lewis to injury five minutes into the game. Â Lewis hit the only shot he took, but did not return to the lineup.
Jewell (11-13, 7-9 in the GLVC) hit 20-26 free-throw opportunities in the second half. Â
Christian Hildebrandt had 15 points,
Darius Tomlin did not start but played 35 minutes and had 13 points, and
D'Vante Mosby had 12 points before fouling out with 3:23 remaining. Â
Austin Regier pulled down 13 rebounds for Jewell.
Dury (16-8, 10-6) pulled to within five points with five minutes remaining, but free throw shooting by the Cardinals sealed the game.
The Cards will head to Rolla, Mo., for a matchup against Missouri S&T on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
