The William Jewell College softball team continued Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Monday in Louisville, Kentucky taking on Bellarmine University. After being shutout 4-0 in game one the Cards were able to salvage a split winning game two 3-1.
In game one, Knights hurler Ally Foster proved to be a dominant presence on the mound tossing a complete game five hit shutout with 14 strikeouts.
Game two saw the Cardinals rally in the late innings for the victory. Bellarmine took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth only to see Jewell tie things up at one in the top of the sixth. The Cards then scored two in the seventh highlighted by a
Faith Song RBI double.
Nona Pauline (4-2) threw seven solid innings giving up one hit, and one run while striking out 8.
The Cards (8-4, 1-3 GLVC) will travel to Jefferson City, Mo., to take on Lincoln University on Wednesday, March 18. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
