Jewell Softball Splits Non-Conference Doubleheader with Missouri Southern

The William Jewell College softball team split their non-conference road doubleheader on Tuesday (March 24) against Missouri Southern State University. The Cardinals won game one 10-6, then dropped a tightly contested game two, 4-2.

In game one, Madi Giles went 4-6 with six RBI's and two runs scored.  Brooke Bernard and Kelsey Morgan had two hits and both drove in two RBI's in the game which saw the Cardinals lead 10-2 after three innings.

Shelby McGraw (5-2) tossed a complete game giving up 11 hits and 6 runs while striking out three.

The Cards were only able to plate two runs in game two as Morgan and Nona Pauline were the only two with RBI's.  Faith Song did go 3-3 with a run scored.

Jewell led the game 2-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth only to see the Lions rally for four runs.  Missouri Southern then held the Cards scoreless in the top of the seventh to earn the doubleheader split.

Pauline (5-5) took the loss on the mound for Jewell going all six innings giving up 8 hits, and four runs while striking out 7.

The Cardinals (13-8) will be back at home on Wednesday (March 25) to take on the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats in another non-conference doubleheader. Game one is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Sprat Sports Complex.
