The William Jewell College women's tennis team lost their Great Lakes Valley Conference opener to Rockhurst University on Wednesday at Clayview Country Club. 

The Cards rallied at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles 8-6 and 9-8 respectively to take a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.  Rockhurst was able to take five of six singles matches with Jewell's lone singles win coming from sophomore Lauren Hudelstun at No. 4 singles 6-3, 4-6, 10-2. 

William Jewell, 6-5 overall and 0-1 in GLVC play will host Maryville University on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the William Jewell Tennis complex on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
