Box Score Box ScoreThe William Jewell College women's tennis team sent their seniors out in style with a huge 8-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over Truman State University, Saturday afternoon at Clayview Country Club. The Cardinals took the win behind a dominant effort by the entire squad that worked hard for their three talented seniors in their final home match at Clayview.
Jewell got things going early winning two of the three doubles matches. The team took 8-3 wins at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles respectively. The senior tandem of sisters Conner and
Loree Hazelrigg combined for the 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Junior
Savannah Drew and sophomore
Lauren Huddlestun added an 8-3 win at No. 3.Â
Things kept going in singles play for the Cards as they swept all six singles matches. Drew got things started when she took a dominating 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.Â
Conner Hazelrigg added a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles while
Loree Hazelrigg won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5. Senior
Katy Lehenbauer won in convincing fashion 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles while
Sabrine Navarro and Huddlestun picked up wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively.Â
With the win, Jewell improves to 7-6 overall and 1-2 in the GLVC. The Cards will host Northwest Missouri State University on Tuesday, March 31 in a women's only match on the William Jewell Courts at 3:00 p.m.
