The William Jewell College women's tennis team was defeated by Northwest Missouri State University 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon on the William Jewell College Tennis Courts.

The Bearcats improve to 9-4 overall while Jewell falls to 7-7. 

Senior Loree Hazelrigg picked up Jewell's lone point of the match by fending off Stephanie Mannix in a tough No. 5 singles match 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7).  Seniors
Conner Hazelrigg and Katy Lehenbauer lost in three tough sets at No.2 and No. 6 singles respectively. 

The Cardinals will travel to Marshall, Mo., on Wednesday to take on Missouri Valley College at 4:30 p.m.
