First-year players Claire MacKay and Seki Anderson both won in singles and doubles to help William Jewell College secure a 5-4 tennis victory over Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo., on Wednesday afternoon. 

Mackay and Anderson teamed for an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles while seniors Conner and Loree Hazelrigg rallied for a key 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles which helped the Cardinals to a 2-1 lead after doubles play.

Mackay dispensed of her opponent 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5 singles while senior Katy Lehenbauer won 6-4, 6-1.  Missouri Valley tied the match 4-4 with wins at No.1, No. 2 and No. 2 singles respectively.  Anderson earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles to which was her third match clinching win for Jewell on the season. 

The Cardinals (8-7) will return to Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Friday when they travel to Quincy, Ill., to take on Quincy University at 2:00 p.m.
